38th Annual Ocean Beach Street Fair & Chili Cook-Off

Newport Avenue to Pier parking lot, between Sunset Cliffs Blvd. & Abbott St.
This popular beachside festival has it all! Just follow the aroma of hot chili and the sounds of rock, blues, and jazz to streets lined with booths containing food and merchandise nestled along Antique Row. There are contests, games, rides, a beer garden, skateboard demonstrations, and a lot more.

Enjoy this downtown San Diego urban food safari as you taste interesting dishes in the historic Gaslamp Quarter. Includes a self-guided walking tour and special beer tasting garden.

Big Bay Boom July 4th Celebration

Multiple locations along San Diego Bay
The Big Bay Boom July 4th Fireworks Show is back, promising another spectacular display over San Diego Bay. Fireworks will be discharged simultaneously from barges placed strategically around the Bay off Shelter Island, Harbor Island, Embarcadero North, Seaport Village, Embarcadero South Marina Park and Coronado Ferry Landing. The impeccably choreographed display will last approximately 17 minutes.

Start off the day at the Fair with a patriotic opening ceremony at 9:30 AM, and then enjoy the Hometown Heroes Parade at 7:00 PM, a concert provided by the Navy Band Southwest followed by a spectacular fireworks display.

Festival of Bells

This weekend event celebrates the anniversary of Mission San Diego de Alcalá, the Mother of California's 21 Missions, which was founded by Blessed Father Junipero Serra on July 16, 1769. Each year in mid-July, parishioners, volunteers and visitors all gather for one weekend to celebrate the beginning of Christianity in the western United States with food, entertainment, dancing and traditional activities like the Blessing of the Bells and the Blessing of the Animals. All five Mission bells are rung during the weekend festivities, including an original bell dating back to 1802. The Festival of the Bells is a great family event and is a great opportunity for everyone to visit and learn more about this historical landmark.

Rainbow banners wave as a symbol of diversity at this most diversified parade. A crowd of spectators cheer on caravans of lavish floats and hundreds of colorful contingents. It's like no other parade! Shuttle service is available. This event is in conjunction with the "LGBT Pride Festival".

Annual Joggin' For Frogmen 5K & Tadpole Trot

Come and join this 5K run/walk at Liberty Station in honor of Navy SEALS (Frogmen) and all military heroes who have sacrificed their lives while protecting our country, including the 31 heroes who were killed in a helicopter crash in Afghanistan. A Tadpole Trot for kids accompanies the event.

Approximately 350-400 body surfers from around the world compete in their respective age divisions for trophies and prizes. The Men and Women's Grand Champions will be crowned on Sunday afternoon.

40th Annual America’s Finest City Half Marathon

The Half Marathon begins at historic Cabrillo National Monument, with its majestic view of both San Diego Bay and the Pacific Ocean, follows scenic San Diego Bay and Harbor Island along the Embarcadero to The Star of India, winds through downtown San Diego, and ends in beautiful Balboa Park in front of the Hall of Champions. Starts at 6:45am. 5K Run/Walk - Fast loop course run completely within Balboa Park. Starts at 6:45 a.m.

San Diego Spirits Festival is a destination event attracting high-profile members of the spirits and culinary trade, as well as affluent consumers.
